1. Different working styles
EPS emergency power supply works in a non-online way. When the power supply is normal, the power supply is directly supplied to the load by the bypass of the power supply, and the inverter serves as the backup redundancy of the power supply, so it has the advantages of no energy consumption and long service life. When the power loss of the instantaneous switch, the battery through the inverter to the load power supply.
Traditional UPS power supply is online, whether the power supply is normal or not through inverter, battery load power supply. Therefore, there is energy consumption, noise, affect the service life of equipment and batteries.
2. Different internal devices
EPS emergency power supply consists of inverter, rectifier/charger, battery, isolation transformer, controller, conversion unit and other main components.
The UPS power supply is different from the EPS emergency power supply due to its working mode and application, so there is no conversion unit device. The UPS power HF machine has no isolation transformer.
3. Different types of applicable loads
EPS emergency power supply belongs to fire-fighting equipment and should be suitable for inductive load (such as gas discharge lamp, fluorescent lamp, motor type) and resistive load (such as incandescent lamp).
UPS power supply is mainly used for computer equipment.
4. Different selection and configuration
In the national standard GB17945-2000, it is specially stipulated that "the emergency power supply device should be able to work normally under the condition of 120% at least". In addition to the corresponding increase in battery configuration, the capacity of the inverter should also be increased by at least 1.5 times.
In the inductive fire load gas discharge lamp start moment of the start current is large, UPS power must be several times the rated capacity configuration.
5. Different requirements for components selection
As EPS emergency power supply belongs to firefighting equipment, its working conditions are relatively demanding. According to article 6.11, 6.12, 6.13, 6.14 and 6.15 of NATIONAL standard GB17945-2000, EPS emergency power supply needs to pass high temperature +55℃ and low temperature -25℃ tests and constant damp heat, vibration and impact tests.
UPS power supply is usually placed in the computer room and other air conditioning places, and there are no special requirements for high temperature resistance, damp heat, vibration, impact and dust prevention of components. No flame-retardant or non-combustible conductors in UPS power supply machine.
6. Different fire protection characteristics
EPS emergency power supply device, as a fire, to provide personnel escape lighting power supply, in the normal emergency shutdown after the discharge, but also forced start, until completely discharge the battery, the battery voltage drops, current rise, high temperature, so the required EPS emergency power supply configuration of inverter and other components must be able to withstand the impact of high current and high temperature rise of bad conditions. The inverter must have a large voltage input range. EPS emergency power supply is designed to protect people rather than equipment.
The battery configured in the UPS power supply cannot be started again after it is shut down below the rated voltage. For example, the battery with rated voltage of 12V will be shut down automatically when the battery voltage drops to about 10V to protect the UPS power supply equipment.
7. Safety performance
EPS emergency power supply due to special personal safety requirements for fire equipment, EPS emergency power supply should be equipped with isolation transformer to ensure personal safety.
8. Fire inspection and acceptance
EPS emergency power supply products are mandatory national certification products, must obtain the production license certification. UPS power supply manufacturing standards are not GB17945-2000 fire standards, there is no national fire qualification assessment center certification, can not pass the fire acceptance.
